The International Journal of Molecular Medicine and Advance Sciences (IJMMAS) recognizes the increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly research and scientific writing. While AI-assisted tools may support certain aspects of manuscript preparation, authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted work.

IJMMAS follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and internationally recognized best practices regarding the responsible use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing.

Responsible Use of Generative AI

Authors may use generative AI tools to assist with language editing, grammar improvement, formatting, translation, or enhancing the readability of a manuscript. However, AI-generated content must always be carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by the authors before submission.

The use of AI must not compromise the scientific accuracy, originality, or integrity of the manuscript.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools if they have been used in the preparation of the manuscript. The disclosure should briefly describe:

• The name of the AI tool used.
• The purpose for which it was used.
• The extent of its contribution.

This disclosure should be included in the manuscript, typically within the Acknowledgements section or another appropriate disclosure section.

Author Responsibility

Authors remain solely responsible for:

• The accuracy of all scientific content.
• Interpretation of results.
• Data analysis and conclusions.
• Citations and references.
• Compliance with ethical standards.
• Originality of the manuscript.
• Any errors, omissions, or misleading statements generated by AI tools.

The use of AI does not transfer responsibility from the authors to the software.

AI Cannot Be an Author

Generative AI systems, chatbots, large language models, or other AI technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. AI tools cannot meet internationally accepted authorship criteria because they cannot:

• Take responsibility for published work.
• Approve the final manuscript.
• Disclose conflicts of interest.
• Accept legal or ethical accountability.

Only human contributors who satisfy the journal's authorship criteria may be listed as authors.

Unacceptable Uses of AI

The following uses of generative AI are considered inappropriate and may result in editorial action:

• Fabricating or falsifying research data.
• Generating fictitious references or citations.
• Manipulating research findings.
• Producing misleading scientific conclusions.
• Creating fraudulent images or research materials.
• Circumventing the peer review process.
• Engaging in any form of research or publication misconduct.

AI in Peer Review

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Manuscript content should not be uploaded to public or unauthorized AI systems if doing so could compromise confidentiality, intellectual property, or unpublished research.

Editors and reviewers are expected to comply with the journal's confidentiality obligations and applicable data protection requirements when using any AI-assisted technologies.

Editorial Assessment

The Editorial Office reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI tools during manuscript preparation. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of generative AI that affects the integrity, originality, or reliability of the manuscript may result in rejection, withdrawal, correction, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.

Policy Compliance

By submitting a manuscript to IJMMAS, authors confirm that any use of generative AI has been disclosed appropriately, that all AI-generated content has been carefully verified, and that the manuscript complies with the ethical standards and recommendations of COPE, ICMJE, and the journal's editorial policies.
